Western Maryland Jaycees Announce New Name and Location for Annual Holiday Light Display
CUMBERLAND, MD – [9.9.2025] – The Western Maryland Jaycees today announced that their signature holiday event, previously known as Lights on the Lake, will now be called Lights by the Mountainside and will relocate from Rocky Gap State Park to the Allegany County Fairgrounds.
The transition comes as Rocky Gap State Park undergoes infrastructural upgrades.
The Jaycees expressed their gratitude to Allegany County Government for its partnership in providing a new home at the Fairgrounds, ensuring the tradition continues and expands. “We are grateful to Allegany County Government for stepping forward to help us continue this beloved holiday tradition. The Allegany County Fairgrounds not only provides a new home for Lights by the Mountainside, but also offers us additional space to grow and engage the community in exciting new ways,” said Billie Jean Clark, President of the Western Maryland Jaycees. “We also extend our sincere appreciation to Rocky Gap State Park for the tremendous support they have given us over the past four years. Their partnership was instrumental in helping Lights on the Lake grow into a community favorite.” The Allegany County Fairgrounds offers expanded space for displays, creating new opportunities for community involvement.
The Jaycees are inviting local businesses,organizations, and individuals to design and build light displays, adding to the creativity and holiday spirit of the event. Sponsorship opportunities are also available, providing businesses and organizations the chance to support a treasured community event while gaining visibility throughout the holiday season.

Lights by the Mountainside will open on Friday, December 5, 2025 and run Friday, Saturday,Sundays through Sunday, December 28, 2025 at the Allegany County Fairgrounds.
